Rupin pass trek is also a high altitude trek in Himalayas that offers you different scenes at every kilometer and every turn. It is a trek that stretched across two states of India, start from Uttarakhand to Himachal Pradesh and you will visits two popular hill stations in this trek that are Dehradun, Uttarakhand and Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. It is a high altitude trek of about 15250 feet and very popular among trekkers in India. High altitude is not just only reason for its attractiveness among nature lovers, sudden variation in trails and number of beautiful views at every step also attracts many Himalayan trekkers.

Rupin pass trek consists of Snow Bridges, Waterfall Views, Jhaka Village, Fir Forests, Kinnaur Temple, glaciers and icy slopes, cut through deep dark folds in the mountain, expanse of green meadows etc. You will be surprised at every hour by the number of different scenery of Mother Nature and sudden variation in trails which offers you during this trek. The trails at sometimes are difficult and at sometimes suddenly changes to an easy walks. The Rupin pass trek has a lot of surprises and thrills at each level. When you move from one destination to other destination during the trek you will find yourself in a completely different atmosphere and all route of this trek is very variant and thrilling.

When you start trek from greener and hot landscapes and move ahead toward the end, you will find the coldest of areas over the snow. Rupin pass trek is an ideal trek for all the trekkers and Mother Nature lovers as it offers every type of terrain. It offers trek to rocky terrain, along and through the water meadows or streams and on snow. Rupin pass trek is full of variety that is from Dhaula, Uttarakhand to Sangla, Himachal Pradesh.

Itinerary

DAY 01 : DEHRADUN - DHAULA [ DISTANCE- 210 KM / TIME- ABOUT 7 HRS / ELEVATION- 1580 METER ]
STAY IN CAMPS

After breakfast we start drive from Dehradun to Dhaula through Mussoorie towns and the villages of nainbagh, naugaon and mori. After the mori drive start along the Rupin River. We will reach Dhaula by the evening. Overnight stays in camps.

DAY 02 : DHAULA – SEWA [ DISTANCE- 13 KM / TIME- ABOUT 7 HRS / ELEVATION- 2000M ]
STAY IN CAMPS

On the first day of trek, we will trek from here to Sewa. After climbing about 200 meters or 20 minutes it becomes easy again. A further walking, you will see the beautiful Rupin flowing below into its bed and you will see Pisa and Khana villages across the river. Trail passes through the beautiful forest and after it Sewa has the famous Kinnaur Temple. It lies on the border of the two states and we camps on the banks of the river.

DAY 03 : SEWA – PUTODHAR [ DISTANCE- 8 KM / TIME- ABOUT 4 HRS / ELEVATION- 2300M ]
STAY IN CAMPS

The trail continues pass the two large but remote villages of Dodra and Kuar. This area is connected by the road and road is extended till Jakhu. After crossing the bridge of Kuar village takes path climbing up to the true right below Jiskon village. The trek goes up to Jiskon, it is located above the Rupin and Narkund Khad. It has a small forest house and we will camp beside the source of water.

DAY 04 : PUTODHAR – JAKHU [ DISTANCE- 8 KM / TIME- ABOUT 4 HRS / ELEVATION- 2650M ]
STAY IN CAMPS

We continue along the path and a steep climb to Jakhu. It is a small village having a small rest house and we camp on the outskirts of the village.

DAY 05 : JAKHU – RUPIN VALLEY CAMP [ DISTANCE- 11 KM / TIME- ABOUT 5 HRS / ELEVATION- 3450M ]
STAY IN CAMPS

On day fifth, the walk start through blue pine and maple forest and after a while walk starts descend to river. Through a small bridge trails goes to the left of the valley and the forest changes to silver Birch. In the season the area is full with wild flowers and blue poppies and an impressive waterfall.

DAY 06 : RUPIN VALLEY CAMP – KANDA VIA RUPIN PASS [ DISTANCE- 8 KM / TIME- ABOUT 4 HRS / STAY IN CAMPS / ELEVATION- 4540M ]
STAY IN CAMPS

There are excellent views of snow fields and hanging glaciers on the way. It is a steep path through boulders. It has beautiful views of Kinnaur Kailash range. Kanda also have a small forest house.

DAY 07 : KANDA - SANGLA [ DISTANCE- 9 KM / TIME- ABOUT 3 HRS / ELEVATION- 2650M ]
STAY IN CAMPS

WIt is a descend steep through blue pine, deodar and oak forest to Sangla and has very beautiful views of Nature. It is connected to Shimla by road.

DAY 08 : SANGLA – SHIMLA/CHANDIGARH [ DISTANCE- 200 KM / TIME- ABOUT 7 HRS ]

On the eighth day, after breakfast in day early we start drive so that we have time to reach our destinations.
