Roopkund trek is a mysterious trek in the Indian Himalayas. It is one of the greatest treks in the Himalayas that have meadows, folklore, forests, snowcaps, lakes and an intriguing flashback also. Roopkund is a lake of mountain that lying in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India. It is situated at a high altitude that is a height of 5029 meter in the lap of Trishul massif. There are many human skeletal found in and around the lake in 1898 first time. So, many explanations behind the findings but none are satisfying to everybody. This lake is also called the "mystery lake” or “Skeletal Lake”, this is a surprising discovery and increase the visits of scientists, research from all over the world.
It is a great lake surrounded by the snow clad peaks, trishul, rock-strewn glaciers and Nanda Ghunti. The trek starts from Dehradun and covered with a depth of about 2 meters of snow for most parts of year and when snow melts the human skeletal can be seen. This is a high altitude trek with a lesser level of oxygen than the lowland and TTH team will give you various tips to survive. It is a popular trek that offers you the overwhelming scenic views and has a special significance for goddess Nanda. This trek comprises the best landscapes of the Himalayas that are so beautiful and mesmerizing that you cannot stop yourself to love the nature. DAY 01 : DEHRADUN - KARNAPRAYAG - MUNDOLI [ STAY IN GUEST HOUSE / DRIVE 243 KM / TIME 6 TO 8 HRS ]
First day in the morning after breakfast after driving of 173kms and 70kms reach mundoli(6 to 8 hrs). Lunch and check into guest house and stay overnight in Mundoli.
DAY 02 : MUNDOLI - WAN- BEDNI BUGYAL [ STAY IN TENTS / DRIVE 10 KM / TREKKING 11 KM / TIME 5 TO 6 HRS ]
Second day in the morning drive 10 km to Wan and after that trek for 11 km (5-6 hrs) to reach the Bedni Bugyal (Alpine Meadow 3350 meters). Here dinner and stay overnights in the tents. There is a alternate route is Mundoli- scenic Auli Bugyal- Bedni Bugyal and this will add one more day to the Itinerary.
DAY 03 : BEDNI BUGYAL - BHAGGUWA BASA [ STAY IN TENTS / TREKKING 10 KM / TIME 4 TO 5 HRS ]
Next day after breakfast we start trekking for Bhagguwa Basa, this is the heaven of flowers. There are a variety of flowers available here. We will trek 10 km to reach there about 4-5 hrs and dinner with overnight stay in tents.
DAY 04 : BHAGGUWA BASA -ROOPKUND LAKE - BHAGGUWA BASA / BEDNI BUGYAL [ STAY IN TENTS / BACK TREK TO BHAGGUWA BASA / BEDNI BUGYAL ]
Next day, we will reach at the Roopkund (5029 mts) by mid-day. It is a beautiful and mysterious destination to see the complete Himalayan beauty and located near two Himalayan peaks (Trishul). In the afternoon we will trek back to the Bhagguwa Basa / Bedni Bugyal for dinner and overnight stay in the tents.
DAY 05 : BHAGGUWA BASA / BEDNI BUGYAL- WAN [ STAY IN TENTS / BACK TREK TO WAN / TIME 3 TO 4 HRS ]
Next day, we will back to Wan after trekking of 3-4 hrs. Here dinner and overnight stay in tents.
DAY 06 : WAN - MUNDOLI - RUDRAPRAYAG- DEHRADUN
In the 6th day we will back to Mundoli after breakfast. After that drive back to Rudraprayag and visits the beautiful rivers Mandakini and Alaknanda. We return back to Dehradun from Rudraprayag.
